During the night of 30th to 31st of december we spontaneously drove to Eidomeni because we read on Twitter that circa 1.800 people were waiting at a petrol station near the border crossing. It wasn’t clear under which circumstances they had to wait there, if it was possible to stay in the busses or if they had to stand outside and unprotected on the street. The photos can give some impressions from last night. Because some of the bus drivers turned off the motors, these busses weren’t heated. At the petol station there was a bunch of logs so the refugees made campfires and had to wait next to those or at the petrol station. Médicins Sans Frontiéres ( ‘doctors without borders’), UNHCR, Praksis and ‘volunteers’ were there. However refugees complained again about the lack of support and help and that every single thing, however unimportant it is, costs money.
Some pictures we took at the border in Eidomeni on 24th of December. Please check our related report about the current situation.
Current situation / Our experiences in Macedonia (by Open Borders Crew):
As the Greek/Macedonian border at Idomeni was closed several weeks ago for all refugees that are not from Syria, Afghanistan and Iraq, many refugees from other countries got stuck in Greece. They are now forced to cross the border illegally in the mountains and in the forests and walk through Macedonia for 5-7 days to Serbia by feet and from there continue to Europe.
Support illegalized refugees – REALLY IMPORTANT!
Oury Jalloh – Murder was the case in Dessau!
Together with the Kosmotique we call to take part in the demonstration in remembrance of Oury Jalloh organized by the group “Initative Oury Jalloh”. There will be a bus going from Dresden to Dessau and back. Meetingpoint for the bus is 11 a.m. at Großenhainer Platz (St. Petri Kirche) in Dresden. The demonstartion will start at 2 p.m. at the mainstation in Dessau-Roßlau.
Today a group of four persons of the “Internationalist Center” Dresden are on the way to Greece. In cooperation with the Dresden-Balkan-Konvoi we like to collect information about current situation of refugees in Greece and self-organized solidary groups and projects.
Times have become more and more uncertain! Currently we are experiencing a multiple crisis – ecological and social in nature – of the bourgeois-capitalist societies, which has led to a worldwide systematic crisis of capitalism and is related to the every day more obvious failure of parliamentary-representative democracy.
